Kristen Muench by Anthony Wright

She has been making art for 30 years. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona and has studied arts in Guadalajara, Jalisco and in Florence, Italy. For her paper mache projects, she primarily uses recycled products. She begins by using a steel rod as support for the project. Then she uses shredded paper to show the final detail. She then uses color to show the basic structure and the finishing touch of her project. These pieces range from being funny to witty. Here are examples of her work...

  2. Wow, paper mache isn't just an arts and crafts material. This is really cool, i like how you've gained inspiration from an artist who isn't that well-known and is a pro in a medium of work that doesn't have alot of professionals in it. I also like how your work breathes inspiration from her work. I can see ho greatly inspired you were by her, good job

  3. Really neat Anthony!! I knew paper mache was a type of art but I have never heard of an artists really using it as her main vessel for creating. What really fascinates me is the fact that it is made with such simple materials. It just shows how complexity can be achieved in the very supplies around us. The use of the steel rod also is a practical solution to keeping the sculpture in its desired form. I know that a pretty big issue when doing paper mache is how to keep its form and it is amazing to see someone try to perfect this art by making such a small thing a huge part of their lives.
