Isaiah Zagar by Anastazia Gilman

Isaiah Zagar is an award winning mosaic muralist in Philadelphia. He creates murals completely made out of mosaics. He is greatly influenced by his travels to Peru in the Peace Corps where he spent time with local folk artists. He is also influenced by some art residencies in China and India. He settled in Philadelphia with his wife Julia and they wanted to create public art. He started by trying to beautify the South Street neighborhood. He created the "Magic Garden" to help foster creativity in the area. The garden has a gigantic outdoor sculpture mosaic garden that spans half a block. There is a room entirely tiled with anything form his personal tiles to bike wheel or mirrors. He has inspired me to take art to a whole new level and try to expand it everywhere!
