BLU stop motion graffiti by Hannah Musser

Blu was started by an Italian man whose name is not known. I chose him because my first art project on consumerism was stop motion and he is a very interesting artist. He started painting in 1999 in the streets on Bologna and since then has achieved much fame. At first he only used spray paint, but now he uses equipment and paint that is used on houses, this allows him to paint a larger space and convey his message more clearly. In his pieces such as MUTO he depicts strange creatures and sarcastic and comic-ish humans. Most of his works can be found in Italy, Spain, Eastern Europe, Germany, England, and South America. Unlike most artists that want to be thrown into the art world BLU was different in the fact that it didnt want to run with that crowd instead it wanted to stay local and choose its own territories to be known at. The thing that inspires me most about BLU is the fact that it is ONE man creating an entire video out of pictures. Stop motion is a unique and awesome form of art GO BLU!!!

  1. I am astonished by some of the pieces i saw by him since they are just so crazy and different. His videos ar very interesting because the characters he has in them. When you first them you are like what? Then you learn to appreciate the wackyness of the videos. It also isnt something easy because those paintings were not little they were gigantic so it shows he put alot of hard work into his art so that made me appreciate his works more.

  2. BLU is absolutely amazing. His videos are very well thought through and they flow well for a stop motion video. I cant even imagine how long it takes him to create those videos. They are kind of disturbing or weird but still very fun to watch. I can appreciate his work because of the effort he put into them.

  3. I've seen the MUTO wall animation videos of this guy. They're pretty amazing! If you think about it, it has to take a reallllyyyy long time to do this, and working on city streets isn't a quiet or easy place to create an art piece. They are freakishly weird, but really really cool. The near impossibility of the place he works and the mediums he uses are why i appreciate this.
