Chuck Close by Kate Jurek

Chuck Close gave insight to his personal life through his personal art pieces. Most of Close’s early works were life portraits based on pictures of people who had influenced him throughout his life and career, primarily other artist and close relatives. After attending school at Washington University in Seattle and grad school at Yale University, Close become an art professor for University of Massachusetts. He was well known for his realistic style that made paint look like film despite his prosopagnosia which is a condition in which it is hard for a person to distinguish people by their face. This condition influenced his art style in which he created a grid work copy of a photograph, filling each square with colorful rings that, form a distance, appeared to be skin colored. His paintings were larger than life showed detail.  His first full one-man show was in 1970 and within the next three years his work was display at New York Museum of Modern Art.

Patti McEuen by Chloe Graham

Patti McEuen lives in Akron, Ohio and has a passion for spray paint art. Most people just spray paint planets and mountain. Patti, on the other hand, is different. She does include some planets and mountains but her pieces stand out more to me. She adds patriotic elements, which I have never seen included in a spray paint painting, to some of her pieces and in one of her pieces, she makes an eye-looking crater.
Here are some more of her spray paint art pieces:

ALEX PRAGER- PHOTOGRAPHY by Georgie Bell

Nowadays youll see artists and photographers having their models(whatever it/they may be) pose for something that has a big story to tell on the subject that made a big impact to them. The only difference is, its modern to them being in the time period that they took the picture. A modern day photographer- Alex Prager takes pictures with meaning (so on so forth, blah blah blah...) but HIS difference is that his pictures are not based in the present day. They are based from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. this is remarkable because you just dont see it in photography anymore. He often takes pictures of only women, not only are they women but they are women who were not regarded as "innocent", or "good" for these times. They are women who often held cigarettes or were less than modest. This strikes me because this artist shows that, despite the fact that the 70's was the "free" decade, he shows that it wasnt just the jumper pants or the OVERLY long and straight hair that made everything so free. Alex prager shows that as well as it being those things it was also that noone held themselves in total modesty. It looks to me as though he doesnt follow that fine line in art. He doesnt mind crossing it because it IS art. I, myself, must show modesty so any art student is welcome to look up this artist themselves, but Prager's art often shows that women had this beauty to them as well as the fact that it was the seventies and women still had femininity despite the decade and other womens actions. file:///Users/georigiek/Desktop/Alex%20Prager,%20June,%202010,%20from%20the%20series%20The%20Long%20Week-End,%20chromogenic%20print.preview.jpgfile:///Users/georigiek/Desktop/alexprager-35.jpg

Fast Spray Paint Art by Chloe Graham

This artist made this amazing piece of art in less than a minute. Starting off with a blank sheet of paper, this artist sprays what looks like just scribbles of different color paints onto the page. He uses magazine pages and a pan to add texture and shape. The ending product is stunning and it's unbelievable that it less than one minute, this artist could make a piece this mind blowing.

Graffiti Techniques by Chloe Graham

This video shows graffiti techniques. It shows making and filling in the letters, cutting lines, and adding effects. He adds effects by using different colors, adding the lines in the letters, outlining the letters, layering, and flaring to a shadow effect. He did two different styles of graffiti. He made a rounded block style graffiti and the handstyle graffiti.
